The rise and fall of all of it,
Our hopes,
First up, then down,
We measure so much of time this way,
Everything, all of us, dying,
Sometimes slowly, sometimes too fast,
But always and forever, continually.
How wonderful it is then,
That we are alive.
Right now!
To walk down the hall or across the street and pet the cat,
Or bear witness to trees, mountains, sunshine, lakes,
Or the beauty in something designed to keep out the rain,
And feel warm again.
Everything changing,
Moving on, In its way.
Our heart then is what we can determine.
Fix it fast to some place good.
Use your will and effort and all that you have,
To hold steady and find peace and rest in love.
